The press release:

DRINKING LIBERALLY CELEBRATES FIFTH ANNIVERSARY CINCINNATI, DAYTON, AND NORTHERN KENTUCKY CELEBRATE   We’re pleased to announce that three of Drinking Liberally’s local chapters will be getting together to host a major celebration in honor of the club’s fifth anniversary.  Liberal minded people from Dayton, Cincinnati, and Northern Kentucky are invited to join us on Thursday, May 29th, at Fries Café at 3247 Jefferson Avenue in Clifton.  The event will run from 7-11 p.m.  Food and drinks will be sold.   As a bonus, we’ll have live music from 9-11 p.m., courtesy of Peter Adams And The Nocturnal Collective. An alternative band described as equal parts Radiohead, Neutral Milk Hotel, and The Beatles, The Nocturnal Collective has become a regular on over 400 college radio stations, as well as western European stations.  Adams and his band have played festivals across the country, including Austin’s prestigious South by Southwest in 2007.  Their soon to be released second album, I Woke With Planets In My Face, has already received accolades from Spin Magazine.   Born in the backyard of a bar in Manhattan, Drinking Liberally has grown into a worldwide organization, boasting almost 250 chapters across 46 states, the District of Columbia, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.  These chapters have created welcoming and informal social spaces for activists, newcomers, and everyone in between to gather and discuss progressive politics.  Drinking Liberally melds the energy of online social networks with the face-to-face world of old-style 19th century bar-room politicking.   “Politics shouldn't be reserved for rooms with fluorescent lighting – we need it in our everyday lives” asked Justin Krebs, one of the club's founders and directors.  “Inebriation isn't the end goal; engagement is. Participants see these gatherings as an easy first step toward greater political involvement as Liberal Drinkers learn from each other, trade talking points and form bonds that become political fuel during election season, and keep the community growing in between campaigns.”   “The local chapters of Drinking Liberally have been major participants in local politics, through interviewing liberal candidates for local, state, and national positions, as well as supporting campaigns.  We’re very lucky to have three chapters in such close proximity to each other, something few other areas of the country can boast of.  This is a great opportunity for us to gather and celebrate with the local liberal community”, said Cincinnati Drinking Liberally host Adam Bartel.   For more information on the local chapters of Drinking Liberally, or to get more information on the fifth anniversary celebration, please contact Adam Bartel (Cincinnati chapter) at cincinnati@drinkingliberally.org or 513-382-0225, Jason Bailey (Northern Kentucky chapter) at newport@drinkingliberally.org, or Cari Kimmel (Dayton chapter) at dayton@drinkingliberally.org.
