Dann Admits Affair
I'm not a blogger...
But I'd like to make sure everyone knows that Marc Dann just admitted an affair during his news conference "with a private person". That affair is with who we all have known for months, Ms. Utovich, his scheduler whom he has direct supervision over. Additionally, Ms. Utovich has resigned, Guitterez and Jennings were fired. All signs from today's Espy report shows that Marc Dann allowed his friends to run amok in the AG's office, was involved with an employee he directly supervised, and was not forthright with the people of Ohio until months after the first trickle of news about all of this broke.
If Marc Dann does not resign at the end of this press conference, I suspect leaders of our party will be calling for his resignation throughout today. In fact all of us should be calling for his resignation too - bloggers, citizens, lawyers, and folks interested in good government. I voted for Marc Dann months back, but if I had it to do over again I would cast a ballot for his Republican opponent. Marc Dann is not a crusader for clean government, it's time for Marc Dann to leave.
And as an opening in the Attorney General's office is all but certain, it's up to all the real bloggers out there (not me) to keep a vigilant eye on the appointment process. The appointment to Attorney General is one of the most prestigious honors our good Governor could ever bestow. It's an honor that deserves better treatment than it's gotten these last few months. And it's an honor that musn't be tainted by the political process, cronyism, money, or favortism. And it's up to everyone to make sure our next Attorney General is as clean as a mountain brook.
I for one would be honored if November '06's "also ran," Subodh Chandra, were considered for this position.

Subodh is clean, competent, and committed to good government. But regardless of whether Subodh gets consideration, we need someone new. Marc Dann's violated my trust, and I'll never vote for him again, along with plenty of other Ohioans and Democrats. I pray that we have someone that values the office, and is committed to transparency and honesty in their efforts to run the AG's office.
