Dan Williamson gives Bill Todd a foot rub

Columnist Dan Williamson and The Other Paper really screwed up this week. No electronic copy yet, but I'll add the link as soon as I can get it. I suggest picking up a copy if you can find one.

Apparently, by not taking the lowest road imaginable and attacking Frankie Coleman directly, Bill Todd has shown himself to be a real stand up guy. I hope the irony isn't lost that the day this Bill Todd lovefest was released is the same day that Cliff Arnebeck demanded the records related to Bill Todd and the Chamber of Commerce's dirty spending on Supreme Court campaigns.

Williamson, who is apparently clueless, even manages to get in a defense of RAB and a jab at the left-leaning blogs.

Democrats continue to portray Todd as a unscrupulous attack dog, unfairly blaming him for nasty anti-Frankie blogs on right-wing websites, but the shoe doesn't fit.

That's all well and good except that there is considerable circumstantial evidence to suggest that the shoe fits snugly. Even Williamson's own article seems to suggest that Todd's first instinct was to go on the attack.

Todd's political director, Eric Forbes, might have had such a strategy in mind when he requested a copy of a nightlife column from The Other Paper last week. In an email to TOP from his personal account, Frobes requested pieces that meantioned "how various night spots in (the) city such as the Brownstone and Due Amici have named drinks after Mayor Mike Coleman."

Wow, what could he possibly have planned to use that information for? Forbes demonstrated his characteristic cleverness by using his personal email account for the request because everyone knows that something emailed from a personal account could never be used for political purposes. That is literally the most weak ass explanation I have ever heard, and Williamson took it hook, line, and sinker.

Tune in next week to see if Williamson follows up with a deep tissue massage.
