So I just had another fun Facebook exchange with Amy Groya! She updated her status to say, and I'm paraphrasing because she deleted me as a friend: Now I totally know why the mainstream media disregards the blogs because they do no factchecking and are completely unreliable! I knew this was in response to the article I did about her on Buckeye State Blog, so this was my response: "Amy, in December you told myself and many others that you were leaving to accept a paid position in the Fisher campaign. This isn't something that I'm making up, I've confirmed it with several of our mutual acquaintances. You'll also notice that my article didn't say that you were still getting paid to work for Fisher, but said that you left College Democrats of Ohio to work for Fisher. If this isn't true, then you can't blame fact-checking or research, you have to blame yourself for lying to me and so many other people. And, in regards to your Executive Committee membership, we had a heated Facebook exchange about the emails, during which your arguments were: 'Jennifer Brunner is ruining my life! These people are crazy! Jennifer has compromised my personal information!' It's only when the blogs broke the story did you start claiming that you were no longer on the Executive Committee. So, in the interest of fact-checking and research, on what date did you offer your formal resignation from the Executive Committee?" Her response? She deleted my comment and removed me as a friend. She then posted that I was crazy and should go attempt to ruin somebody else's life.

I would like to clarify a few things for everyone. It is correct that Amy is no longer president of College Democrats of Ohio, I am. The committee will vote to seat me when the meeting convenes on Wednesday. There has been nothing controversial regarding placement and Amy has not cast any votes from the CDO spot on the committee since resigning from CDO. I am not in the seat because due to the bylaws I have not been officially seated (as there has been no meeting of the state exec committee since December). That is my understanding. You ask very viable questions. As to why she is getting emails as a member of the committee would, or how the committee still deem's her membership, I can not speak for... but I do know on Wednesday everything will be as it should. If we were truly interested in our elected representatives doing the right thing then we would hold out for a single-payer system and/or a system that does not rely so heavily on health care tied to employment/employers.

Instead, we're asked to hold our noses & support a bill that greatly increases & further entrenches the fundamental fiasco of health-care-for-profit & will establish an even more pronounced health care apartheid system.

That the Democrats have the presidency, the House & the Senate and still can't get it right is beyond pathetic. They're not interested in true health care reform, they're interested in winning elections.

This morning's New York Times is reporting that Nancy Pelosi is now counting noses and deciding which "at risk" Democrats will be allowed to vote "no" and still remain in the big tent. OMG. Voting for health care reform is the most important boost this Congress can do for JOBS IN AMERICA!!! Let me see, the question becomes, do I vote against my constitutents, and keep my job, or do I do the right thing. Hmmmm. Life is full of decisions.

Dear G.O.G.,

The right to privacy is strongly implied in amendments to the Constitution. Obviously I (we) support that. However, when presented with such harsh criticism one tends to wish to face those that level those charges. That sort of sounds American also. At any rate, thank you for helping me see your points. I have never ducked any questions and have e-mailed an answer to everyone that has ever written me. Please feel free to do so. I am sure that I have much to learn. Blessings for a brighter future in OH-58 and in our state in general.

Mr. Mays,
I guess the main point of my post should have been that I have been to candidates nights, I have read the newspapers, and visited your website and I still do not know what you stand for that will make Ohio better. Have I given up on the district? No! The 58th is a great district going through hard times. We have a Democratic State Senator, we had a Democratic State Rep. there. It is possible. I would like to point out though that while you defend the ideals of our founders and what our country stands for on your website, clearly don't agree with my right to privacy and my name "Genuine Ohio Guy, " suggesting I'm somewhat of a coward. Mind you that a couple of our founders (Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay) wrote The Federalist Papers written under the pen name "Publius." (Please tell me you don't think they were cowards. Do you?) Sir, I respectfully wish you the best of luck on the campaign trail and I truly hope that the 58th ends up in the Democratic hands, but by belittling my rights in an online community will not win my support nor support of my peers who embrace and utilize such a community.

Dear aka 'Genuine Ohio Guy', (Please notice I am using my real name) My name is George F Mays and I am a Democratic candidate for Ohio house district 58. Please allow me to take issue with a few of your comments: I do not think that 2 primaries and one fall election within a year and a half would be understood by most people as making me a 'frequent candidate for US House district 5'. You may think I lacked motivation but what I lacked was money.Democratic leadership had given up on the district. Indeed, there was no one to even run this time untill one decided the Monday before the filing date. You were not with me during 20 newspaper interviews, 6 candidates nights, 6 t.v. spots, nor at the numerous events attended and the thousands of miles that I (we) drove. You were not with me when I literally wore the souls off my shoes. Please remember "Genuine Ohio Guy' I did receive the most raw vote of any Dem. in US House 05 history at nearly 106,000. Remember too, I kept my apponent occupied and out-of many local races. Besides, there are two other Dem.s in Ohio house-58's primary. If I am not too well known and not motivated I will lose and you will no longer be discouraged. I hope that someday we can meet and have a chuckle about this. Right now I have a race to win. A member of Congress has died and someone thinks that is a good time to pile on? OMG It doesn't matter if you agreed or disagreed with this man. He was a Marine, a Congressman, a husband and a father. That should be enough to earn him the respect of, at a minimum, silence from his adversaries during his familie's time of mourning. Anyone who cannot understand that simple concept should review the late great Edward R. Murrow's precise question to Senator Joseph McCarthy: Have you no shame sir? In my humble opinion, this is a defining moment in the United States Senate campaign in Ohio. If Portman ignores this outrage, and then goes to a fund raiser with those folks, that says all I need to hear about his character.

We had a preview this past November when corporate money purchased Cuyahoga County government with a well-financed campaign of lies that duped voters into believing Issue 6 had ANY provisions for curving corruption and that it is not what it is – a consolidation of control of county in the hands of a few people with money and a bulldozing of the voices of the citizens. It is virtually a blueprint for corruption – but you never heard that, thanks to corporate money outspending the truth-tellers more than ten to one, and a compromised paper that sold its soul to be a campaign marketing tool rather than a provider of information.

If we don't fix this immediately, somehow, Issue 6 is the country's future.
