What's Happening Today

Well, down in Washington DC, the U.S. Congress will meet in joint session at 1 PM ET for the counting of the electoral votes. VP Dick Cheney will preside over the session that will mark down in the history books once and for all the American people's damning condemnation of his and W's administration. The expected tally is 365 electoral votes for President-elect Obama, and 173 electoral votes for Sen. John McCain. The only drama is whether any"faithless" GOP electors will cast a protest vote for their nominee of choice, as happened in 2004, when a Minnesota Democratic elector cast his vote for Sen. John Edwards instead of Sen. John Kerry.

Meanwhile, in Columbus, Richard Cordray will be sworn in as Ohio's Attorney General, and former Columbus City Councilman Kevin Boyce will be sworn in as Ohio Treasurer of State at 1:30 PM today in the statehouse atrium. Gov. Strickland and Lt. Gov. Fisher, and outgoing interim AG Nancy Rogers are expected to make remarks.
