http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23406107/

"Olson said he is still researching the issue but is certain McCain is qualified. The plain meaning of "natural-born citizen" includes those born to parents who are citizens, particularly when they are born on a U.S. military base as McCain was, Olson said. "I am confident that the United States Supreme Court, should it ever address the issue, would agree," Olson said in a statement. According to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, people are born U.S. citizens if they are born in the U.S. or their parents are U.S. citizens. The question arises because Article II of the Constitution limits the office of president to a "natural-born citizen," a term on which the Founding Fathers did not elaborate."

Common Sense

Little Giant 78,

I saw those same words that that law Professor, a registered Democrat, said about McCain's eligibility. Then I saw that a Harvard Law Professor, a former solicitor general, and the United States Senate came to the conclusion that McCain is eligible. Just some food for thought.

Little Giant 78, I ask you this:

When was the last time the Republican Party let the constitution get in the way of their plans?

Was this displayed by the store or a customer?

If the store displayed this sticker, I would certainly let the manager/owner know. I have done this with businesses that displayed signs, stickers, etc for candidates I opposed. Let the people in charge know that where I spend my money is voluntary and I chose not to patronize a business that supports candidates and policies I oppose. IOW, "You just lost a customer, dude". Also, if it is a franchisee, I would contact the corporate office. The last thing corporate would want is to lose customers because of politics.

As for citizenship, I read an article from a law professor that said Congress didn't grant "native-born" citizenship upon those born in the Canal Zone until the year after McCain was born. So, the professor argued that McCain is constitutional ineligible to become President.

White Flag

It appears the white flag is to represent surrender, while the American flag with McCain's name represents patriotism, etc..

This Little Wingnut Went to the Wrong Coffee Shop

I went to Caribou this morning to grab a cup of coffee and what did I see? This:

Now, as you can see, the website selling this little smear sticker is Republicansource.com. When I wento that website, I couldn't find a sticker with the question mark in the flag like this. They do sell ones with a blank white flag though. Which means they either stopped making this one, or this guy got a magic marker and drew in the question mark himself.

What makes this sticker a smear is that its questioning Sen. Obama's nationality. And, ironically enough, it is Sen. McCain that was borne in the Panama Canal Zone, while Sen. Obama was born in the U.S. State of Hawaii. I urge the Obama camp to take on these smear artists head on.
