You're linking to the "Loneliest Blog on the Internet" (tm) for credible counter-arguments?

Obama fans would have a lot more credibility if they maybe just *once* acknowledged Obama's flaws, campaign mis-steps & flip-flopping on issues.

But, hey, I understand. The point of blogs like this isn't to be neutral in a journalistic sense. It's to spin & get preferred candidates elected.

We civil libertarians will just be lap dogs & vote for whomever has a "D" next to their name, whether they've earned it or not. That'll fix everything.

Democrat Party slogan, dusted off every 4 years = "At least we're not Republicans!"

I'm okay with this....

I find it a bit refreshing that he's not making the union rounds. I don't need a group of people telling me who to vote for, and I've never liked the pressure put on candidates through unions. The focus should be on policy and cleaning up the mess left by NCLB, not mass grip and grins and endorsements.

This just proves the point: unless you chose the horses you're going to bet on before the Gate opens, you'll never hit the Trifecta.

More parties

This election is another example of why we need more than two parties, nifty. You're right: Obama is daring progressives and left wingers to vote for McCain or Nader with his recent actions. When he doesn't pick Hillary as VP, he'll be daring all her voters to vote for McCain or Nader as well.

I'll be real interested to see what Clinton does with FISA...I haven't heard anything about her position on the recent House bill.

Race towards the center

Maybe his campaign is afraid there will be Muslims present & he doesn't want to be photographed or filmed with them?

But really, as Obama continues to race towards the center now & in the coming months, the answer - as always - will be, "Don't like it? What are you going to do? Vote McCain?"

At least there's now some people making noise about Obama's love for warrantless wiretaps -- http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/02/us/politics/02fisa.html?_r=1&nl=tech&emc=techa1&oref=slogin

Casual Observation

It may just be me, but from my casual observation it may be caused by spelling his "Barak" as opposed to "Barack Obama."

You know how politicians are with their egos.

Where Is Barack When Teachers Need Him?

I'm in Washington DC for the NEA Annual Meeting and have just learned that Barak Obama will not be addressing us in person this year; this comes in stark contrast where we had nearly every Democratic hopeful and Huckabee showing up in person last year. The other national teachers' union, AFT endorsed Hillary in October; they're having their biannual meeting in Chicago in less than two weeks, and Obama won't be at their convention, either.

I'm quite upset. NEA witheld its endorsement of any Presidential Candidate (we'll be voting to officially nominate Barak in a few days) so that the two candidates could have time to do their thing and win; it also afforded us the luxury of not splitting our membership into one camp or the other and damaging our collective ability to support whoever the nominee. Yet despite this, Obama will be addressing us by video feed, not in person. When we were told about this, a murmur of disappointment spread across the room-- to be sure, teachers in my delegation are taking this as an affront-- it's all Hillary supporting teachers need to not vote for him...just one more reason.

I've also learned that Obama won't be showing up in person to any union conventions-- perhaps this is part of his recent centrist move. If so, he needs to rethink his strategy. Membership in a union almost guarantees that a member will vote Democratic. I'm upset with you Barak; you're my guy, a JFK for a generation of millenials, but don't forget the teachers!
