Are these rumors important?

Are these rumors important? Is it important that I know Marc Dann has a drug problem? I think it more important not to know about it, this is his personal business and me knowing about it doesn't make things better for either of us. Knowing that people do drugs affects me in a bad way, changes my perspective about drugs and makes me accept them easier in my life (hypothetically speaking). If he really has a drug problem then he should quietly solve it in a drug detox.

We are dealing with albeit educated attorneys these guys aren't sophisticated.

I was just thinking what I might do (as a former Deputy Sheriff) if I were in Jenn Urban's position. Was she at work on on leave?

1. At lunchtime the IG bursts in and locks down the office computers....
2. You have cell phone that you know will be considered evidence
3. You left at 11:30 for lunch so you don't return. (or are on leave)
4. You get a call that IG is locked down your computer.
5. Call Leo Jennings (your lover)
6. Leo Advises DESTROY CELL PHONE OR WE WILL ALL "BURN" (foreshadowing)
7. Call Utovich for help
8. Utovich and Jennings (or other accomplice) arrive at apartment
9. Jennings instructs Utovich to begin cutting HDTV wires to stage burglary
10. Jennings and Urban power down cell phone, remove battery and go outside to destroy phone in IN BAR-B-Q grill.
11. Discuss timeline and coach "witnesses"
12. Jennings (or other accomplice) pulls car into Urban's garage
13. Urban and Utovich assist with loading TV into car
14. Accomplice/Jennings leaves with T.V. to dispose of late night/early morning so there are no witnesses/neighbors
15. Phone police to report burglary (to convince IG of my cover story)

Come to think of it THAT ISN'T WHAT I WOULD DO AT ALL !!!!! THAT IS WHAT I WOULD think inexperienced a-holes would do.... I would turn the blackberry over...what do I have to lose?

I'm not the one in trouble, DANN IS! To maintain the "burglary" time line, a cell phone would have to be destroyed AFTER it leaves the residence.

Blackberries can be "pinged" even when "off" and if that last location of cell phone (before destruction) is at the apartment that would be inconsistent with a burglary scenario. Cell phone would have to be destroyed AWAY from apartment....to maintain "burglary" story.

On third thought, THESE GUYS ARE GOING TO GET CAUGHT BECAUSE THEY aren't this smart to think of this or many other details I could comment about....Jenn Urban is going to get "burned" on this one.

Fabricated?

The rumors around downtown are much WORSE than what Nick posted...I think he is actually doing a good job skirting the edge of what he can and should post.

There are plenty of rumors floating around about cell phone pictures AND you are aware that Dan had his PERSONAL cell phone (paid for by his campaign) confiscated by the IG.

Marc Dann should have thought about his children before engaging in an affair and decimating his (and others) political career with juvenile actions. I can imagine the school yard taunts. "I see Paris I see France, I see Marc Dann's underpants."

I heard one rumor that he is up for "Dad of the Year" award for this Father's Day.

Marc Dann's office problems were rumors also and look where they have ended up in the IG's office....

We can "move past this" once the pending multiple agency INVESTIGATIONS have concluded, including the FBI's. In the meantime, go back to sleep on Jenn's couch or go sell some dishes.

Dann made mistakes, that much is obvious. But Dann also passed on his chance to come clean on his own several times. If he had any interest in making this easy on his family he would have confessed from the start. He didn't, and now there's going to be an investigation. If there wasn't one it would just further abuse the trust that people place in thier elected officials.

I also think Nick handled this pretty well. This rumor has been going around for a while now, but Nick held off posting it until it became apparent that some people were taking it seriously. He was also very clear that it was a rumor.

Nick, I am absolutely appalled that you would post a completely fabricated rumor, especially one that you and I both know is false, on this site. I understand it is the intention of bloggers to discuss rumors and gossip, but I really thought you would be above this. Everyone wanted Marc Dann to resign, and now he has. He's out of the picture, so let it go. Can you please keep in mind that he has a teenage son and daughter that are trying to deal with this, as well? I think we can remember all too well how vicious high schoolers can be toward each other, and posts like this aren't helping anyone - whether it's Marc's family or the public - move past this.

I'm hearing lots of people, and other blogs, talk about rumors from inside the AG's office that Marc Dann is being investigated for possible drug use. I'm not sure of the truth of these rumors, but people are talking about possible drug use, and that the newsrooms of the Plain Dealer, Dispatch, and Dayton Daily have been leaked this info and are burning midnight oil investigating these rumors.
