Congratulations, Marc Dann. Your Demise Is Now National News

Congrats Marc Dann. Your demise is now national news.

USA Today has picked up an AP wire piece about the Marc Dann debacle that is on their website now, and is likely to run in tomorrow's editions.

This piece has some interesting comments from key players that I haven't heard before. First, it's quoting the 'Fern as saying that "We will distance ourselves both figuratively and literally from the Attorney General until he makes the decision that is best for the people of the state of Ohio, and that is to step down." As I reported previously, the ODP has stripped any mention of Marc Dann off it's website. That fits with the report that the party has unendorsed Marc Dann, pulled all resources from him, and will essentially make him an independent so long as he's in office.

Second, the AP story quotes Governor Strickland as saying "I think it's important for Democrats to send a very clear message that we will clean our own house." When Governor Strickland was questioned about the fact that, while in Congress, he opposed the impeachment of President Clinton, he said the two situations were "dramatically different" and his request for Dann to resign is "not based substantially on the extramarital affair."

Indeed, a careful reading of the Dispatch's editorial stating that Dann should resign shows that the paper mentioned the affair not even once, while still making a persuasive case that Dann should step down.

Finally, the AP story states that Slick Jonny Husted is already ireviewing the process of starting up impeachment hearings against Dann.
