Anti-discrimination

Anti-discrimination legislation: 1)Won't pass and will only muster anti-gay forces 2)Won't help even if passed, for every inch of progress a gay would make on a legal front against a discriminatory employer they would lose two in other ways. You can't legislate someone to like any person! For instance, on the TV show Big Brother I can't stand the gay guy ... I don't know if it's because he's gay or not I just know I can't stand him. If I had the power I would vote him off the show. Would that be considered discriminatory? Until you can better define blatant discrimination vs. I just don't like the person, we are going to have problems. If I felt gays were being given an extra advantage for hiring and job promotion I would do everything possible to bring them down in any aspect of their life I could find. I know an office that has had several black secretaries and each time they get to the point where they would normally fire someone with their work record they have to worry about being considered discriminatory. The person that hires and fires has expressed their outrage with the current system of allowing blacks to get away with murder while whites must tow the line. Allowing blacks to get away with things normal employees can't do only widens the gap between the races. Would this happen with gays also? I think it would happen with anyone you would do this with. Call me a bigoted homophobe if you want, but I am just presenting how my side sees it. Most wouldn't even consider talking about it, but until it can be truthfully talked about it can't be truely resolved. Am I saying all gays and blacks are worthless? No, but the giving anyone a sense of entitlement over others is wrong and counterproductive.

Matt Sanchez, a former prostitute who used to sell his body to male clients for $200 an hour under the handle "Excellent-Top," blogged about Gov. Spitzer's prostitution scandal. Nevermind that Spitzer is a heterosexual male politician who's in trouble for using the services of female prostitutes. In Matt Sanchez's twisted, self-hating, neocon-homo mind this scandal is all about Teh Gay!

Sanchez adopts an uber-judgmental and moralistic attitude about Spitzer's indiscretions without owning up to his own past and fairly recent career as a gay sex worker.

Who said anything about running a campaign entirely on LGBT issues? The point here is that you said anti discrimination legislation is only "feel good" and that legislation doesn't matter. It remains one of the most ridiculous statements made in sincerity here in a long time.

When people, and in this case the minority, are wrong, we SHOULD shove legislation down their throats. Should African Americans have waited for Civil Rights legislation until all the racists saw the light? It is wrong to expect people to wait for their civil rights to be protected. They could wait til hell freezes and still some people are too pigheaded and ignorant to change. Everyone deserves protection and redress under the law. Too bad homophobes are so delicate and easily offended.

You simply can't ram legislation down the throat of people who oppose you. Until the hearts and minds are changed on this issue going to step 2 will only embolden the opposition and make them go on the offensive. For instance, Republicans will run on a one man/one woman platform and filet their opposition. They will use it to raise money and get church support. Democrats that may have had a fighting chance will be destroyed on this single issue. Once Republicans can no longer run on that platform is when it will be ripe for legislation. To do it earlier would be putting the cart before the horse. It's kind of like touching the third rail of politics, the second amendment.

... murder laws won't keep people from killing each other, or drug laws won't keep people from doing drugs, or traffic laws won't keep people from smashing up their cars, or the Constitution won't keep President Butch from doing whater he damn well pleases...

And think, with the money we could save by not having a police force or FBI to enforce all those useless laws, we could give Mobile-Exxon another tax break and throw $9,000,000,000 in small bills up in the air in Baghdad.

Yes, the Domestic Partners issue is a good example of how the "marketplace" can solve discrimination problems without legislation. Your partner gets hit by a truck and is in the hospital dying. They refuse to let you visit him. You say, "Well, we'll just take our business to another hospital!" You march into his room and,... oh, they won't let you into his room. Never mind. Here's a better example: Your next-door-neighbor's husband dies, and she receives Social Security benefits from his 40 years of work. Your partner dies and the Social Security office says you are not eligible for benefits. You say, "Well, then I'll move to another country, marry a younger man, wait 40 years until he is ellibible..." oops, that didn't work either. Don't forget he also got into trouble last year after U-haul and a veterans group accused him of fraud. According to The Marine Corps Times, Sanchez is a reservist who's been in a non-drilling status since 2005. He has never served in Iraq or Afghanistan. But somehow U-haul and this veterans group were left with the impression that he'd been deployed to Iraq after Sanchez hit them up for some cash.

A couple of months ago Matt Sanchez was exposed yet again as a lying, self-deluded hypocrite after a man he met while cruising for sex on a gay hookup site recorded a "bootie call." Sanchez posted the recording on YouTube after the man threatened to expose his hypocrisy. Sanchez tried to explain it away by concocting some stupid b.s. story, but only a fool would believe him at this point.

You know the GOP is scraping the bottom when they have to rely on shady characters like this lying whore Matt Sanchez.

'Feel good' legislation just isn't the solution ... do you understand the difference between 'feel good' legislation and tangible progress? My sister is a lesbian and works in Grove City. She has advanced in her job not through legislation but by producing. Employers who discriminate against LGBT workers will be at a comparative disadvantage to those that don't simply because they aren't using the full potential of the labor pool. By passing laws that 'punish' those who are judged to discriminate will only promote malcontent and distrust to those who have warmed to LGBT issues. I, for one, would just move to find another way to fire an employeee I didn't want around regardless what a law would say. The legislation is doomed anyway ... even if Ted Strickland, who is gay(and I voted for), wants it passed.

I think everyone at BSB deserves to give OH-15 Congressional candidate Steve Stivers a big round of applause for picking up the pro-Iraq War "Vets for Freedom" endorsement the other day. Sincerely, Steve - bravo, well done! But wait! Something smells funny. Do I detect the faintest whiff, of, [no, could it be?] vaseline and latex?...

Funny thing though about that whole Vets for Freedom thing - aside from, you know, pushing a 100 year war - is some of the folks that are active with the group. You could say Vets for Freedom's a "big tent" group. For example, meet Matt Sanchez, one of the group's formerly featured supporters and website bloggers.

Now, I know - you're thinking that's a good lookin' man! Have I seen that guy before? Well, if you're a sexually repressed GOPer you may have just seen Vets For Freedom's Sanchez in some of his other films, such as "Touched by an Anal," "Beat off Frenzy," or the always popular "Hot Springs Orgy." Yup, Mr. Matt Sanchez - of gay porn notoriety - is one of the poster boys for Steve Stivers Vets for Freedom. Big tent indeed boys!

Late last year Sanchez's colorful past was uncovered after an appearance on Hanity and Colmes. I say more power to the guy. Much to Rod Parlsey's chagrin, the pornography industry is still a legal and, some would say, respectable industry to make a buck in. And as a Democrat, I unabashedly know nothing's wrong with homosexuality. So really, I've got not qualms with gay porn (everyone needs some lovin', right?). However, I wonder how Steve Stivers supporters would respond to the source of Steve's support. I mean, it's not like Matt is just a member of Vets for Freedom - he's also active in promoting the group and helping out with it's communications. That ties him to Vets for Freedom pretty closely.

I wonder how Carl Lindner - one of the Ohio GOP's biggest cash cows - would feel about Sanchez's career? And do you think Steve's ready to help overturn "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" yet? I mean with supporters like this, he's bound to be just giddy, right? Matt, Stever, welcome to the par-tay!
