She "hoped and hoped" the economy would turn around? You are exactly right. She was in a position to do much more than "hope" and chose to do exactly nothing. I think she inadvertently revealed the entire scope of the Republican "plan" for the state and it's just karma that she was one of its victims. What a shame that even being brought down by the results of Republican non-rule, she still believes in its bankrupt tenets and isn't able to comprehend reality. She is definitely several steps below a scumbag.

COSHOCTON -- State Sen. Joy Padgett and her husband, Don, have filed to reorganize their Coshocton business under federal bankruptcy laws in hopes of surviving in a sluggish economy.

The couple own Main Office Supply Co. on Main Street and are hoping that by filing for a Chapter 11 reorganization, the company can settle its debts and emerge with a bright future.

According to papers filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, the company has $531,000 in assets and $1,151,446 in total debts.

Joy Padgett, a Republican, won the Senate seat in 2004 and her term expires in December 2008. She was also a former state representative and the former executive director of Gov. Bob Taft's Office of Appalachia.

"With the economy the way it is right now and companies moving out of the area, or merging, or going out of business, we've seen our business hurt by that," company president Don Padgett said Tuesday. "While I've been in the process of reorganizing the store from the beginning, the business world is constantly changing and nothing stays the same for long."
