and what makes it a little hard to glean the true significance of this poll was the gap between Wulsin's recognition and Schmidt's. If Wulsin can get up her recognition level without accruing significant negatives, she's got a real shot here. But 40-plus-percent have no clue who she is? I'd say it's a little hard to figure out what he real advantage is at this point, although the fact that Schmidt is known and disliked is certainly a plus!

Wulsin tied with Schmidt in latest poll [UPDATE]

I'm honestly surprised

The poll, conducted this past weekend by the Washington, D.C. firm Momentum Analysis, shows that, if the election were held today, 44% of respondents would vote for Wulsin, 44% would vote for Schmidt, and 11% were undecided. Wulsin leads 50% to 37% in Hamilton County, the largest county in the district.

Schmidt��s approval ratings are even lower than President Bush��s in the district (currently at 41%). A mere 33% of likely voters in her district approve of the job Schmidt is doing and 53% disapprove.

The poll also shows Wulsin��s strong support among independents. She leads Schmidt 52% to 36% among independents throughout the district.

Though 2 more congressional polls soon to be released will show even worse news for the GOP incumbents, so maybe this isn't such a surprise after all, and we're starting to see massive voter fatigue with the GOP in Ohio.

[ UPDATE]
The Wulsin campaign was kind enough to send me the polling memo. After just reading it, the results for the GOP in this heavy Republican district are devastating. We're starting to see this pattern emerge in every poll now - the fact that anti GOP sentiment has seeped so deeply into the reddest of red districts should panic every GOPer in Ohio.
