Maybe its for the best. In Congress you have to be able to do at least two things at a time...I mean it gets pretty busy up there. Golly gosh...if Mr. Book can't handle it well then he is making the right decision.

Honestly - The 2nd district is NEVER going to flip Democratic. We don't need to spend millions of dollars and our time and energy. Just let Krikorian (or whomever ends up there) run down there, lose and we can focus on other seats or retaining our wins from 2008.

In a move that Krikorian supporters have been harping about for days now, State Rep. Todd Book has ended his run for Congress.

His statement:

Since I announced my intent to run for Congress I have been humbled and grateful for the support I have received from the district. It is clear the people of Southern Ohio need a strong leader who will work productively in Congress on the issues that affect us every day.

In recent weeks my duties as a State Legislator have taken up much of my time. Ohioans went to the polls this past Election Day and voted for measures that will require new legislation and leadership in the Statehouse. This is on top of a budget issue that hasn’t been resolved and a looming Pension Bill that will come out of the committee that I chair. The people of the 89th District elected me to be a leader in the Statehouse and that is something I take very seriously.

It is with that in mind that I have decided I cannot commit the necessary time to run for U.S. Congress. This was not an easy decision, but it is one that was made with the best intentions for my family, the good people of Southern Ohio, and the Democratic Party.

Representing Lawrence, Scioto, and Adams Counties in the Statehouse for the last seven years has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I look forward to continuing to serve the people of Southern Ohio and be a voice for common sense solutions.

But just because he's unopposed doesn't mean I automatically trust Krikorian now.
