Cincinnati Enquirer’s Endorsement Based On A Myth

David Potts - Posted on 27 October 2008

In the Cincinnati Enquirer’s recent endorsement of John McCain, they cited the following quote from Barack Obama as one of their reasons.

"A strong government hand is needed to assure that wealth is distributed more equitably."

There’s just one small problem according to the blog “Liberal Oasis”, Obama never said that. The line initially appeared in a Wall Street Journal article about Obama, but it’s not a quote. It has, however, been used as a quote in one of those negative emails that have been going around about Obama.

If you want to know what Obama really said about taxes to the Wall Street Journal, Liberal Oasis has that too. Perhaps a few Cincinnati area “journalists” should take a look at it.

It goes to show you that editorial boards are not necessarily made up of journalists, not that that would matter in Cincinnati. Everything is seen through the prism of the right wing. As for the misquote of Obama, reality is what they make of it here. The message has been repeated by too many to discount its inaccuracy by most in the Queen City of the Ohio.
Actually, the premise that the Cincinnati Expirer is a real newspaper is also based on a myth.
