Canton Mayor Goes Apeshit in Temper Tantrum

Hmm...sounds like Republican Mayoral candidate (and current incumbent) Janet Creighton might have a big of an anger management issue. This all came out at an event during a commercial shoot for the Stark Area Regional Transit Association. From Stark County Politics:

Creighton and Alliance do nothing Mayor Toni Middleton, along with several other elected officials were scheduled to shoot a spot for SARTA at or around 2:30PM today. One of those elected officials happened to be State Rep. William Healy, who is also Janet's Democratic opponent for [the Canton] Mayor[al race] this fall. Our sources tell us that when the carpetbagging Mayor saw Healy pull into the parking she went absolutely insane.

It's still early, but the first details are that Creighton began stomping her feet and screaming that "He shouldn't be here, this is for F*cking Mayors!" When she questioned Charles Odimwbe, the dirsector for the Stark Area Regional Transit Authority and found out that yes, Healy had been invited because SARTA is in his district, she and Toni Middleton simply drove off and refused to be in the commercial (but not until after swearing at and pushing Odimwbe).

Wow, how random is all that...the Canton mayor stomping her feet screaming profanities in a temper tantrum. I can't imagine what would make a normal person behave like that.

It's just as random as our

It's just as random as our state AG throwing an F-bomb at reporters that question his use of state funds.

Too bad he's not running for Canton Mayor

Cause then you could say they're both guilty. Last time I checked, Healy's stayed classy.

Dann and Creighton

OK, Jerid, so Healy outclasses Creighton. That doesn't change the fact that you are now criticizing her for an F-bomb tantrum, but I don't seem to recall your strong criticism of Dann for the same thing. Was Dann equally as childish as Creighton? (HINT: either your answer starts with "y" and ends with "es," or you are essentially admitting to a level of partisan hackery that would be Naugle-esque. Maybe you should change the name from BSB to Left Angle Blog to show that you are truly mirror-images of each other.) Or, say it with me: Creighton is immature. Dann is immature. Voters should worry about both of them.

Look

If you want to get into a heads up battle of Democrat v. Republican of who's got the sleazier candidates, I'm more than willing (though I'm sure I'll just exasperate myself with you). Point blank, Creighton's got a problem, Healy doesn't. And while you're lobbing bombs about this other candidate and that other candidate, let me remind you that you still have Joy Padgett representing your party - one of the most vile creatures to ever crawl this beautiful Earth. And with that, time for more steak.

I double-dog-dare you to answer the Dann Q

Jerid, I understand your reluctance, but I hope you can see how funny/sad this looks to any independent or honest reader. I didn't ask you to become a Republican or vote for Creighton or vote for Dann or anything. I merely challenged you to apply the same set of standards to both parties. If you believe that Creighton deserves criticism for an F-bomb tantrum, then you ought to say the same for Dann. You are free to counterbalance that with as many pro-Dann sentiments as you like. For example, "I love Dann's pro-consumer litigation, but that tantrum was an embarassment." But it seems that you can't bring yourself to admit that, and want to retreat to vague generalities about the sleaziness of Repubs vs. Dems overall. Look, I'm an independent who enjoys your blog, and I had already given up on Naugle having any class or logical consistency. I held out hope for you longer, but for me, something as petty as the tantrums is symbolic. If your partisan blinders are so strong that you apply a double-standard to two politicians in near-identical situations, and can't bring yourself to admit that your guy looked foolish, then why should those of us who don't vote a straight party line give weight to your judgment? I am not trying to exasperate you, I am giving you the chance to show that you are more mature than the hacks on both sides. I admit that I am losing hope, but I haven't given up yet. Go ahead, and say it: Dann's temper tantrum was an embarassment, just like Creighton's.

Triple Dog Dare You To Get A Life

Strong words from a poster who hides anonymously. Your candidates are imploding across the board, from Columbus, to Canton, to OH-15, OH-7, etc

The best you got is a double dog dare? Heh. Have fun with your pride, watchin' us govern the country and Ohio. And get Creighton some anger management classes.

Shows a lack of preparation

If I were a candidate and I were doing a commercial shoot like that, the _very_ first question I would ask is who else is going to be in it. There is no excuse for being caught flat-footed in a situation like that.

Reporter was questioning Dann's Kids

Hey Anonymous, remember the reporter Dann cussed at was insinuating that Dann's daughter wasn't smart enough to be hired by the SOS on her own, that Dann got her the position. Here in the Mahoning Valley, getting the F-bomb dropped on you when you go after someone's kids is mild indeed. The situation is completely different from the Canton mayor.

Someone Must Be on the Ballot in November

Hey guys, instead of you taking pot shots at each other, let's just lay out the facts. Fact one, the commercial shoot was part of an ad campaign for "Try SARTA Week" in which public officials were asked to ride the bus on September 11th. Fact two, the Mayors who were there, as well as Representative Healy and Councilman Thomas West are all sitting public officials. Fact three, Stark County Treasurer Gary Zeigler was asked to sing in the commercial. Fact four, West and Zeigler were the only officials there who are not in contested races for the November 2007 General Election. In fact, Zeigler is not on the ballot. Fact five, Zeigler created a family emergency after contacting the Democratic Party Chair to inform him that he would not participate in a commercial with any f*cking Republicans. Fact six, any time a candidate can get their name in the media without having to pay for it is a big plus. Fact seven, this is not the first time J Dubya has blown up in public or showed the City of Canton her ass when things did not go her way. And perhaps the biggest fact of all, this whole well-intentioned endeavor turned into a major cluster f*ck because partisanship makes it damn near impossible to get a group of politicians together and on the same page to do anything productive for their constituents. Now for the questions. Would J Dubya have been so upset if she weren't running for re-election and Healy were not her opponent? Does the City of Canton need someone overseeing the treasury office who can lie so easily and readily? All of this infantile behavior is just on a local level. It's no wonder politicians get such a bad rap
