BREAKING: Republicans Intimidating Early Voters In Columbus
The image on the right shows Republicans in the parking lot of the Veterans Memorial in Columbus, the site of early voting in Franklin County. Apparently they’ve been going around taking pictures of voters and their license plates in an attempt to scare them away.
But here’s the kicker: Yesterday the Franklin County Sheriffs Office escorted them off the property, but their back again today.
Checking For Two-fers.
You're Giving Them More Credit Than They Deserve
Your answer makes sense, especially using a video camera.
However, there is a certain intimidating effect of people taking license numbers, as one doesn't know to whom they will be given and what they intend to do with them. The voter could fear their name being given to an employer or other person who could possibly have a retaliatory response if they had some authority or power over the voter.
If this is taking place in a publicly-owned lot (by Franklin Co., for example) the County or Board of Elections should have security personnel there who could ask the number-takers to move along, i.e., they are loitering and could do damage to the cars parked there.
Any other ideas?
Employers hate voters?
Why would anyone be afraid of their employer knowing that they vote?
Are you saying that employers don't like people to vote?
Welcoming observers is a sure way to avoid being accused of voter fraud.
People that keep returning in the same car to vote over and over again need to be recorded....for potential voter fraud....are you saying you support voter fraud? If you have nothing to hide there is no need for fear. I'm not afraid when I vote.
Democrats aren't going to police their own voters and I would welcome the chance to be an election observer in a heavily republican precinct and I think it is odd that Jennifer Brunner wouldn't allow election observers at the venue. What is there to hide?
Once again Ohio is shaping up to embarrass us this election.
"The Law Does Not Provide For Observers"
At least that's what a gentleman from Secretary Brunner's office told Bob Franz on WTAM this past week. I would think that the Secretary would have the discretion to permit observers during the early voting period and would do so if possible. If it's a grey area, why would anybody protest? Voter fraud can cut both ways.
Winning is great. Winning a clean fight is the best.
Those People Taking Down License Numbers Aren't "Observers"...
And, yes, Some employers like people to vote a certain way- the way these employers want them to, or would prefer that some don't vote at all. If you're not aware of this, there's nothing I can do to help your naivete'.
Who said anything about the same people "returning in the same car to vote over and over again"? Where did you even get that idea?
"Democrats aren't going to police their own voters". Ha. Are Republicans going to police their own voters? Whatever are you talking about?
I only hope that Sheriff's patrol that responded the first time to escort the Number Takers off the premises is called over and over as long as necessary.
Wow!
I'm a business owner, and a democrat....I didn't realize that I should be concerned with who people I employ vote for....I guess I should look into that.
I guess if I expect my business to thrive I should become a Republican and suppress my democrat employees votes.
That is utterly ridiculous.
If the "observers" are on private property I guess the Sheriff can be called as much as necessary. But just like I have to right to photograph my neighbors clipping their grass (if I want to) then I guess that Republicans have the right to photograph cars license plates.
Which doesn't even matter because total turn out hasn't been that great if you taken into account TOTAL expected turnout less that .05%.
And No. Republican voters aren't going to police their own which means if we Democrats ever see the need to police Republican voters/districts then we should allow transparency in voting.
Maybe if there was a better accountabiltiy system, Bush wouldn't have stole the election.
Turnout light in Ohio early voting window
I prefer Frasier to Seinfeld.
Turnout light in Ohio early voting window
COLUMBUS, Ohio - A weeklong period in which Ohioans could register to vote and immediately cast a ballot ended Monday with turnout that didn't quite match the expectations of election officials — or the campaign predictions that preceded it.
As of Monday evening with polling sites still open, projections were that about 4,000 to 5,000 voters in the state's four largest counties would have taken advantage of the policy, which survived multiple court challenges.
Elections officials were surprised by the low turnout.
What?!?
"I prefer Frasier to Seinfeld."
That's blasphemy!

What the heck??
Are people supposed to be terrified that a picture of their car will be posted on the internet showing them parked outside the county Board of Elections location? Wow. What a hit to their reputations. Not.
If someone were voting fraudently the evidence would be the ballot, not a picture of their car.
Some GOP morans apparently need to get a brain.
