Boccieri Still A No Vote In My Book

David Potts - Posted on 05 March 2010

There’s some talk about John Boccieri possibly switching sides on healthcare reform after word came out that he now appears undecided or even supportive of the new healthcare proposal. While this is a good step, don’t read too much into it. Boccieri doesn't deserve that much blind trust.

And if you needed more evidence of that fact, Boccieri’s staff is now rushing to point out that he remains undecided until he sees the final legislation.

Don’t let the pressure off until the votes are cast.

I actually like a Congressman who says he is "undecided until he sees the final legislation." The current bill, which DOES NOT PROHIBIT pre-existing condition exclusions; and DOES NOT have a public option, simply does not fulfill the promises made in 2008. At long last President Obama is making it clear that the time to vote is now, and the time to run for cover is gone. John will be there when we need him, because he is a decent guy, and the "new" bill is better than the present 2000 page piece of gobbledygook which pleases no one. Now if we could only get Steve LaTourette to understand that America is smothering under the present health care system... By the way...check out the best Congressional website in America...he said modestly. www.oneill4congress.com

As I understand it, the way forward at this point is for the House to pass the Senate bill as-is, and make budgetary adjustments in a separate reconciliation bill. It would prevent the pre-existing condition exclusion. What is the "new" bill of which you speak?
