Boccieri On His Healthcare Vote
I haven’t really heard from any Democrat who’s happy about Rep. John Boccieri’s votes last night. Specifically, he voted yes on Stupak and No on passage. He’s 0 for 2!
Here’s Boccieri’s statement on why he backed down when we needed him:
"After nearly 150 roundtables and meetings in my district, it's clear that my constituents agree our nation's health care system is in critical need of reform. While I fully support quality, affordable health care coverage for everyone, I am disappointed the House bill sadly does not go far enough to reduce the costs of getting there.
"The Affordable Health Care for America Act contains some important regulatory reforms I fought for including prohibiting discrimination against individuals with preexisting conditions, stressing prevention and wellness programs, and capping annual out of pocket costs for patients. While I am pleased the final bill includes these critical provisions, it is clear to me that too many of my constituents share my concern about the cost of this bill and how we pay for it.
"From the beginning, I made it clear we should wring all inefficiencies from this highly wasteful system to pay for necessary reforms. Unfortunately this bill does not go far enough to secure my vote.
"Our nation has gone through a long, thoughtful, and sometimes emotional debate to improve this bill. I hope when the health care reform bill comes back from the Senate, the concerns of my district are addressed."
Hey John, ever consider that maybe your sane constituents didn’t want to deal with teabaggers? Way to go John! They played you for a fool, and you were more than happy to oblige.
But do you seriously think that any of them will vote for you anyway?
How about the others who voted for the Stupak-Pitts amendment
I'm Not Happy About It Either
Me either!
I'm not happy but...
Health Care Bill
It is important that the government pass the Health Care Bill. There are just so many who has suffered because they didn't have the proper insurance or their medical insurance was making a fool out of them. It is time they make it happen, no more excuses.
They should not think of themselves or the big corporations that funds their campaign rather they should think of the welfare of all concerned.

They should make it happen

Uh huh.
"It is clear to me that too many of my constituents share my concern about the cost of this bill and how we pay for it."
While that *might* start to explain the "No" on the overall bill, particularly if he was pushing for say, a single payer plan (which I don't think he was), It sure as hell is no excuse for supporting the wretched Stupak amendment.
While I'm not in his district, I have contributed to his campaign. That's a mistake I won't be making again.
