Bob Bennett Surrenders In Cbus Elections; Trouble in Canton

Just got an email from the Ohio Republican Party. It's bad news for Bill Todd and the rest of the Columbus GOP slate - real bad news.

The GOP just blasted a state wide email, calling Republicans from Cinci to Cleveland to arms for, get this, the Canton Mayoral re-election race of Mrs. "Apeshit Mayor" herself, Janet Creighton. Emails like these signal parties top priorities because they're not targeted to a region, they go out to an entire list. And the race the GOP is most concerned about channeling resources into is in Canton...not Columbus as Bill Todd would hope. Truly is a shame.

If the GOP really were in a "tight race" as Patrick Poole, GOP hack extraordinaire, claims the party would be channeling every single resource into the city. But actions really do speak louder than words. And the actions of the Republican party show that even they realize Columbus is over for them. 'Tis a shame.

And it's also interesting that the GOP is mobilizing the troops in Canton instead of conserving resources for the upcoming cycle. I mean, Creighton was supposed to sail to an easy re-election. But misstep after misstep for Janet Creighton may cost her this race. I know the Ohio Democratic Party is taking the race seriously, as it is one of the top targets for the '07 cycle. Really would be a shame for Janet if her personal temperament, racial remarks, and reception by the community lost this race for her. Looks like it might happen.

As I mentioned earlier in the year, it would be a huge blow to the GOP to lose Canton. Democrats control Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati for one of the first times in the past century. We're eliminating their bench. Taking Canton, the largest city they control, would devastate them further for both this cycle, and future elections.
