$80,000 from your pocket and mine

How many of YOU got a bonus this year? Meanwhile, staffers in the Secretary of state's office which was so poorly run apparrently that one of Jennifer's people said to me "It appears their arrogance was a cover for incompetence" gets a bonus paid for from our tax dollars. Nice. As if we needed more reasons for not having voted for Ken Blackwell for governor.

Blackwell in a class by himself

From the Blade story link above, I linked to the followup story published today and all I can say is that Blackwell is truly a piece of work beyond anything in our wildest imagination. He's almost certainly going to turn up with a job in the Bush administration with his high level of duplicity, hypocrisy, incomptence, arrogance, sanctimony and reckless poor administration. Today's story relates this:

"The governor's and state auditor's offices said no bonuses were paid by outgoing officials at the end of 2006. A spokesman for the attorney general's office was still checking, but said he was unaware of any. The treasurer's office did not return a call. With one minor exception in the Senate, there were no year-end bonuses for legislative staff in 2006."

So, just as no other incoming office holder reported that their predecessor had thrown up roadblocks to a smooth transition other than Jennifer Brunner, ONLY Ken Blackwell appears to have displayed this particular form of reckless disregard for the taxpayers' dollars — and this is the same man who wanted a TABOR to hamstring every city, county, school system, park district etc in the state, the same man whose only economic plan was to cut taxes and spending. But he just didn't think it applied to him. What a loser.
