Before Folks Get All Freaked Out And Start Screaming

Administrator - Posted on 22 October 2007

I wanted to drop word to the community beforehand that BSB is considering endorsing in the Republican Primary in the OH-05 special election.

An endorsement would only serve for the primary election. We, along with everyone else, want to judge the candidates individually by their messgae, vision, and conduct in the general election.

So why endorse in the Republican primary at all?

Well, anyone that's been paying attention knows that this specific primary is going to give the public two distinct options. Bob Latta has shown an interest in compromising his far right ideals on issues in which leadership asks him to take a seat. Likewise, Steve Buehrer is a Ken Blackwell type conservative, caring little for compromise when the conservative cause is challenged. These are big differences in the Republican primary, and groups should weigh in on how they feel about this candidate traits. I plan to do so closer to the primary.

Feel free to drop your thoughts on the two candidates into the comments on this post.

Jerid, Make sure you go over to RAB. I responded to your comment that you left for me about Blackwell. I am a Republican and I am supporting Latta for several reasons. Here are may main 2... 1) Naugle is supporting Buerher so I support the opposite. 2) Latta is willing to work with folks on both sides of the aisle and that is true leadership whether you are an R or a D. The choice is simple...

"...Bob Latta was actually endorsed by the far-left liberal Buckeye State Blog. Vote Buehrer for true conservatism."

Are you intending on the BSB endorsement to help or hinder the endorsee?

-Mark Jablonski
What do you mean by help or hinder. I'd figure everyone would want BSB's endorsement, right?
You wait to see a poll on who its easier for Weirauch to beat, endorse the other guy, and let the Rs use it against each other. Genius.

I AM all freaked out -- or -- something......

There's a freaking war going on and you're playing footsie with the opposition. Now if you'd asked which one sucks more than the other, I might participate in your little poll.

What are you trying to do, audition for some "Fair and Balanced" blog award? If that's what it's come to, change the masthead from "Pamphleteers of the Revolution" to "Propagandists for Der Partie!"

[Okay, how's that for a bloggy version of screaming? ;-) ]

But seriously, let's just document the atrocities and move on. The real question is which one is Satan incarnate and which one is just a minor demon. My money is on Buhrer as most like Lucifer himself, but Latta likes to give the Prince of Darkness handjobs -- which would win him Cheney's endorsement.

A really hard pick if you ask me. That's why I'm a Blogger for Weirauch.

I only support Democratic candidates and there's a good one running for this seat. I don't subscribe to the DLC baloney about candidates. Why do you not support the Dem candidate in this race?

Keep in mind, there's no such thing as a "good" Republican.  Regardless of what they say in public, they vote in lockstep with Bush and their insane party leadership to support failed public policy.

He isn't talking about supporting a Republican over the Democrat. This is just an intellectual exercise for the GOP primary. We can talk, right? Chill out.
He was on tap to run for the State Senate seat (after flip-flopping with Gardner from House to Senate and back). The Second District Senate Seat is a real winnable race for us and with a top tier candidate on our side (which we will have) along with an open seat, we'll be able to win that race. If Buehrer wins, his State Senate seat is not winnable by Democrats. I'm rooting for Robin and think she has a decent chance to pull this one off but if a Republican wins, I hope its Latta.
No one said anything about supporting Republicans over Democrats. So all y'all just need to chill out.
similar to the primary race between Blackwell and Petro but I'm not familiar with OH-05 candidates. I was rooting for Blackwell over Petro because Blackwell dug his grave by making sure Bush got elected in 2004. People are finally getting fatigued by the far righties.
They're both farther to the right than Petro, but of the two candidates, Steve Buehrer is extremely similar to Ken Blackwell.
