Auditor Taylor To Join The Team

That would be the "time to make Blackwell pay" team. Today it was announced that Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner has requested Auditor Taylor perform an audit of Blackwell's records from his time as SoS. Specifically, the SoS Brunner is concerned over Blackwell's destruction of state documents, bonuses, and other nefarious activities during his last days in Columbus.

From the Dispatch:

Brunner also said yesterday she’s concerned about Blackwell’s management and asked state Auditor Mary Taylor to do a complete financial and performance audit of the office.

The new secretary said she sought the audit after learning Blackwell’s office printed 50,000 letters Jan. 4 to mail to corporations that had their charters canceled dating back to 1999. The envelopes, however, apparently were destroyed.

"We figured we probably better have someone from the outside look at what the state of affairs is here at the point we took it over so we know what we’re dealing with," Brunner said.

Blackwell, who left office Jan. 7 after losing the fall race for governor, couldn’t be reached yesterday to respond. Taylor spokeswoman Jen Detwiler said Taylor and Brunner spoke yesterday and that the office is awaiting a formal request.

12-1 odds Mary accepts the request; the GOP need to bust this guy too.
