Abe Vigoda says Betty Montgomery is "The L-Word"
Man, you just can't make this shit up.
Okay, had to look...
And found a post addressing this claim about Betty at Down with Tyranny. Also this bit of information...
Saturday, October 28 Blue America will feature the progressive Democrat running against her for Attorney General, the man who first uncovered the Republican scams to defraud Ohio's taxpayers out of a billion dollars annually, Senator Marc Dann. Don't expect Dann to talk about Montgomery's personal life-- he refuses-- but he will talk about how crooked her political career has been. Come by Firedoglake at 2:00 PM (est) to meet Marc Dann on line and see why the Attorney General's race in Ohio is crucial for the whole country.
She's also corrupt
Well
Why not?
I'm a big believer in privacy, but if you're running for public office and you're a complete hypocrite that sounds like fair game to me. For a party that uses homophobia to goad their fearful and clueless base into voting their way, its only fair that base be made aware of exactly who they are voting for.
Aside from that, from a partisan point of view the R's wouldnt hesitate to use something about an opponent that would give them an advantage. Hell, they are perfectly content to make shit up. It's way past time for the D's to fight fire with fire. In an ideal world I wouldnt chose this approach, but the R's have established the ground rules.
I understand
...but if you're running for public office and you're a complete hypocrite that sounds like fair game to me.
I can understand that logic, but as Democrats I think we are above it. The funny thing is though, the MSM must know the story, but have never written about it. How could they not know?
I wonder how "Moms for Ohio"
Sending a message
My guess would be that someone is sending the GOP a message that if they start spreading rumors about Strickland in their advertising and through the blogs, there could be some blowback. While I am not crazy about "outing" people regarding their sexual procivilities, I also don't think that there is anything noble about being a punching bag for the GOP.
Several years ago, while Tom Foley was in Congress, the former Speaker from Washington, some of Newt Gringich's staff was spreading the rumor that he was gay. Supposedly Barney Franks, the openly gay congressman from Massachusetts, threatened to start telling the press the names of gay Republican Congressmen if they continued spreading those rumors. What he said was something like, "Foley's not gay, but there are several Republicans who are and if this continues, then I will start telling the media who they are and you can ask them if they approve of spreading these kind of rumors." Result: rumors stopped.
The GOP wants Betty to come through this campaign so she can run for Governor in 2010. If she is "outed", then that plan takes a direct hit. The GOP may not want to risk that so maybe someone is making sure they know what could happen.

He's still alive?
